Good Intentions
There are many things my husband likes
And some things that he hates
Like listening and cooking
But shopping takes the cake
So if this sounds familiar
Well, men you might as well laugh
Because it won’t be the first time
And definitely not the last
So tell me folks,
Has this happened to you?
And if it has…well
Just what did you do?
My day went something like this…
Honey…
Please come to town with me
I promise I won’t be long
I just need one thing
Now how could this go wrong?
He huffed and he scoffed
But he drove me to town
I said, “Please come in with me
I won’t let you down.”
I found what I needed
And I was ready to check out
My intentions were good
I was feeling real proud
But then I saw it
It was big and bright
I had to…just had to
Walk over to see if I might
Find something I just
Couldn’t do without
But shoot how I knew
My husband would pout
Well that’s putting it mildly
He was down right mad
Boy I wished I left him home
Then it wouldn’t be so bad
But that red “on sale” sign
It was calling my name
Yea, I know why stores do it
But I still play their game
It’s the feelin I git
When a bargain I find
Knowin I saved some money
For that one of a kind
So I git to lookin and
I really can’t stop
There’s so much to look at
But how he hates to shop
Just one more thing honey
And then we can leave
Oh look there’s a chair
Some stress this might relieve
So I grab some things
Say I’ll be real fast
To tryin them on
Cuz I know he won’t last
And I begin the process
Of eliminating the bad
And keep trying to hurry
Because he is gettin real mad
Well I git to stressin and a frettin
On which one I should git
I like the color of this one
But this one sure does fit
So I hold them up one a time
Again and again…and to the side
“Honey which one should I buy
I really can’t decide?”
Well, his rope it done snapped
He couldn’t take no more
Says, “Just buy them both.”
And heads for the door
Well I do as I’m told
Cuz that’s how I’ve been taught
And it sometimes pays off
Because two outfits I got
So I hope as time passes
His heart it will soften
Cuz I vowed then and there
I’m goin to bring him more often.
